“A TIME TO BUILD” CAMPAIGN

Throughout Camp Deerpark’s years of ministry, God’s goodness and provision have been readily apparent through the support of loyal volunteers, timely financial gifts and abundant answered prayers. But Deerpark has also seen times of struggle. Limited resources have, in turn, limited the services the camp can provide and the rate at which it has been able to grow.

In 2005 the board held listening sessions with several of the owning churches and generated a list of twelve values to guide future decision making. Among those guiding values are a desire to maintain the open spaces camp users currently enjoy and a sensitivity to the history and tradition of Camp. In the board’s words, “We are not looking to make this a fancy place, just a more comfortable place.”

While some site enhancements have already been completed, these challenges remain:
  • Aging buildings still double as retreat and children’s camp facilities. As a result, campers miss the small group cabin experience afforded by a more typical children’s camping facility and retreat facilities cannot meet the variety of family, small group and large group needs of Camp’s users.
  • The age and design of facilities create significant operational inefficiency.

In order to address these issues and to help Deerpark attain a new level of service for its users, the board of directors is undertaking this capital campaign, “A Time to Build”. Specifically, funds will be used as follows:
